Reading With Concentration

The word 'Reading' links to memory and concentration. Whilst reading you should concentrate on the piece of text you have read, in order for it to stay in your mind for longer. Doing this research will help me adept this skill and gradually set my mind into this position naturally. This will help me to read any piece of text in depth which is very helpful when I am researching about Domestic Violence against Women.

Your work environment is a key point in order for you to concentrate. The more comfortable you work environment is, the more chances of you to stay focused. Here are some key points:

  • Make sure your chair and desk are the same height as you, in order for you to be settled in comfortably and quickly. This will also prevent you from giving an excuse and walking away from what you had planned.

  • Images. Images of a natural scenery or watching video about the wildlife can help you with your concentrating skills.

  • Distractions?....shut it out. Listening to music is a popular choice when it comes to concentration, especially if it's instrumental. Some people use 'White Noise' apps e.g. ocean waves, falling rain etc. It is a steady background music which can drain everything else out, helping you to target on something particular and concentrate on that without any distractions.

Food plays a huge part in this, starting your day with a good breakfast and drinking plenty of water is one way to go. When you are hungry its very hard to focus, that is why you are often encouraged to eat a healthy amount of breakfast in the mornings or just to eat something for breakfast. If you aren't active during the day you would just feel very lazy and discouraged to from doing something important. So whenever you want to take a break just walk around for a while or get some fresh air outside.

When you want to do something you only have to focus on that particular thing. Don't mix everything up or try to do two different things at once. And when you are focused on something try not to divert your mind on other things e.g. what shall I have for dinner?, shall I drink coke with a mentos in my mouth?, am I ever going to meet Taylor Lautner?.....STOP!

When you are at your most alert times try to complete your hardest tasks; this will increase your concentration. Complete your tasks little by little then reward yourself after you have completed a task, this will make you to remember it for longer and it can also be a solution to motivate you to go further.
